“Pacific Engineering Company” Ltd. was founded in 1998. However, the labor biography of the company team can be counted from 1986, the year of foundation of the specialized public enterprise “DMIGE” for performance of engineering surveys on the shelf of Sakhalin Island and South-East Asia. From this moment the professional growth of our specialists began, experience was accumulated and traditions were established. Maximum development of “DMIGE” was observed in 1987-90s. It had its own fleet, the advanced equipment and technology of that time. Significant scope of engineering-geological surveys was carried out within the north-eastern shelf of Sakhalin and South-East Asia. Development of the expedition was prevented by economic and political events taking place in Russia in the early 90s. Painful reduction of the staff started at that moment, the vessels were sold out, such departments as Offshore and Lithodynamic ones were closed, and geological-engineering laboratory was abandoned without any allowance. As a result, in 1998 the bankruptcy proceedings of the public enterprise “DMIGE” was initiated.
In 1998 “Pacific Engineering Company” Ltd. (PECO) was formed on the basis of the remained staff and production base. In the shortest possible period PECO managed to fit successfully into the new market relations and to establish partnerships with the foreign companies. “Pacific Engineering Company” Ltd. received its first contract in the year of its formation — from “Sakhalin Energy Investment Company” for execution of the geophysical works in Aniva Bay and in the north-east of Sakhalin. Then there was the order for surveys for the gravity platform at Chayvo field from “Exxon Neftegas Limited”, its execution allowed the personnel to believe in themselves and their possibilities.
And already in 2000, in the acute competition with foreign companies, “Pacific Engineering Company” Ltd. won a large contract under “Sakhalin-2 Project” and conducted large-scale studies for installation of the platforms, pipelines routes and their landfalls in the north of the island, it performed a complex of engineering-geophysical and geotechnical surveys for construction of export terminals and LNG Plant in Aniva Bay. Hereafter the course of onshore engineering-geological surveys began to develop; the required equipment and machinery were purchased for this purpose. And so every year there was a new project most of which have already been implemented and which are truly the pride of all the involved persons. The team of “Pacific Engineering Company” Ltd. has proved that it is able to fulfill contracts at the international level even in the most difficult conditions. Such works were entrusted to the company as no one could undertake due to difficulties in their organization, sometimes due to extreme conditions of work. In the most severe competition and complicated economical conditions the company was able to update and increase its technical base, to bring the work quality in balance with the international standards, to keep the qualified personnel.
The company has dynamically fit into new economic conditions. Its specialists, solving the applied problems, have gained vast experience, accumulated extensive database of the sea bottom topography, composition and properties of the bottom sediments, shelf ecology and other information for subsequent exploration works. For the moment “Pacific Engineering Company” Ltd. is one of the most popular companies in its field within the Far East.
